Upon returning to College Station, I talk once more with Levi, commander of D co, tell him that I am going to go, and I start the paperwork in the morning. One thing that was bothering me was that the first football game of the season was on that comming Saturday. I had never been to an A&M home game, or any other A&M game for that matter, and I really wanted to go. So when I turned in my uniforms, I kept one set of Bravos to wear at the game and march-in.
As the Corps marches in to any home game, each unit is announced along with the commander's name and where he/she is from. As Delta Company rounded the last turn, instead of hearing Levi's name, and hometown, the announcer said that a member of our unit, which is made up of combat veterans, is on orders to deploy again. And they even announced my name! I trid so hard not to smile from ear to ear, but it didn't work very well.
The game was great, untill the second half when A&M began to loose, they obviously didn't get the message that they were supposed to win as this would be the last game I would see this season...
